Giving of Alms Ceremony

Our last day in Luang Prabang was very relaxing. We had massages, hung out with Monks at the library, purchased some books for the local children and just chilled at a café overlooking the river. Oh! and this morning we got up at a ridiculous hour in the freezing cold to see the 'giving of alms' ceremony, which Emily and Tom decided to participate in. Tomorrow we move onto Nong Khiaw then Luang Namtha so I may have not have internet again until we hit Thailand......
  Riding around Luang Prabang again...
The kids have fallen in love with the 'fruit shakes', they are having a couple per day, they aren't allowed to have the alcohol ones though LOL.
Chillin by the river
The night markets are fabulous, I purchased a necklace tonight - Emily's comment was that it would match my hat..... I think it's spectacular.
My favourite Laos street food - small pancakes that are still mushy in the middle, served in banana leaf, for the huge price of 80cents!

  1. I chose to forego the massage in favour of the slow boat to Pak Ou Caves (Buddha Caves). The pilot having to navigate numerous hidden and exposed rocks of the Mekong river. Rising mountains on both sides, the scenery was beautiful. Excitement abounded as another boat crashed into us while we were fueling up (no casualties and boat in tact) and then we visited the Whiskey village and purchased a few samples. On to Pak Ou Caves which was loaded up with over 4,000 Buddha statues of all shapes and sizes. Lovely trip back and then lunch with the rest of the fam overlooking the Nam Khan river. Finished the day off with aother visit to the night markets buying cheap & colourful clothes.
